Set Collection: 1975 Topps

I attended the FCB National card show just north of Atlanta this past Sunday and picked up a few cool cards. I was pretty damn excited about the show, much to the annoyance of my wife. After reading Cardboard Junkie's post about the show, I was even more excited. Still, I managed to walk away slightly disappointed, but just slightly. I did find a few cool things despite the plethora of rude dealers. (I did walk out with cash in my pocket, which I didn't think was possible at a show.)

From various boxes across the floor, I found 14 cards I needed for my 1975 Topps set, including some great ones.

Pops and Concepcion are two of my favorite players from my early days as a baseball fan. Especially Pops. I can't help but think of him and the 1979 Pirates whenever I hear Sister Sledge.

Chris Chambliss had a hit in the bottom of the tenth to win the first ever Atlanta Braves game I attended in Atlanta after my family moved to Georgia. He was one of my first favorite Atlanta Brave players. In my eyes, that hit will always eclipse that 1976 home run against the Royals. I mean, who can even remember that anyway?

If you didn't get a chance to see Richard pitch pre-stroke, it was a thing of mastery. He was as filthy as any big league pitcher I ever laid eyes on. As for Steve Carlton, he is hands down one of my 10 favorite players of all-time. Before my family moved to Georgia, I was a stone cold fan of those Phillies teams of the late 70s through the early 80s. Of all the pitchers I've seen pitch, only Greg Maddux, and possibly Roger Clemens, were better, and that includes Nolan Ryan.
