Maddux Collection: 1993 Donruss #608

At no point in the history of the Braves franchise has a better deal been made than the one John Schuerholz inked with Greg Maddux on December 9, 1992. To many Atlanta fans, Greg Maddux was guy who had stole what we believed was Tom Glavine's rightful second Cy Young Award. We were wrong, and after watching Maddux master the league in 1993, we knew from the start that we were watching one of the best pitchers in the history of the game. There's simply no way that the Braves would have been able to hang with the San Francisco Giants in the N.L. West pennant race if Greg Maddux had not been signed. There's simply no way that the Braves win 14 straight division championships without signing Greg Maddux. 1993 was that start of something special.
