I was reading
this article about 1980s baseball cards in today's The Wall Street Journal and I was struck by the use of Beckett to quote values for some of the cards from the 80s. I was especially intrigued by the listing of the 1987 Greg Maddux Donruss card being worth $10. I love Greg Maddux, obviously. I love the 1987 Donruss set. Still, who would pay $10 for this card? I won an auction where I won three for $5 early last year. In the Beckett Marketplace right now, you can find over a 100 of this card for less than the Beckett price. You can get them for as little as $3.99 Buy It Now on eBay. $10????? No way.
Of course, the card ought to be a worth a damn million.
